WRITING

Ali began writing and performing her own work in 2018. After graduating from drama school she wrote and staged four plays and was thrilled to have been commissioned to write for film and television from these productions. FILM AND TELEVISION

In 2022 Ali wrote and performed in her comedy short film MAGIC which you can watch here.
Ali currently has 6 original projects in development:

As a theatre maker, Ali held the prestigious position of chairperson at the 2022 Dublin Fringe Festival where she was formally a resident artist.
She was also a resident artist with the Civic Theatre Tallaght and was awarded the esteemed Patron Donation Award from Pavilion Theatre Dun Laoghaire.

THEATRE

THE DEATH OF PABLO

Co-comissioned by The Pavilion Theatre Dun Laogahire and Civic Theatre Tallaght. Staged for a rehearsed reading as part of The Dublin Theatre Festival 2021.

An explosive comedy about friendship, loss, Wezz, What’s App and Jesus.

An estranged group of friends come back to town for the funeral of their beloved childhood friend Pablo. The events surrounding Pablo’s death are suspicious and no one seems quite sure how he died. In their quest to understand what happened, dark secrets and old rivalries quickly resurface and the group find themselves reverting back into what they have spent the last 8 years trying to escape.

ELECTRIC

Ali’s first full length play, written in 2017 which went on to tour Ireland ant the UK until August 2019.
Tour locations included Dublin, Limerick, Belfast, Kerry, Brighton and 3 weeks at Underbelly as part of the Edinburgh Fringe.

DISCONNECTED

Disconnected was Ali’s second show which she wrote and staged in 2019. It enjoyed a complete sell out 2 week run at THE NEW THEATRE.

24HR PLAYS

In 2020 Ali was one of 6 writers selected to stage a play with THE 24HR PLAYS at The Abbey Theatre, Ireland’s National Theatre.

She wrote a play called THE PARTY which was directed by Eoghan Carrick and featured Maeve O’Mahony and Ste Murray among others.
